New England Emergency Services Building – 1205 3rd Ave East
The New England Fire Department and the New England Ambulance are now housed in the
Emergency Services Center, which is a state of the art 11,000 square foot building. With the help of
grants, fundraising and a donated piece of land, the town now has a new place for the Fire
Department and Ambulance to call home.
Volunteerism is prominent in both departments, with the Fire Department covering 550 square
miles in Hettinger, Slope and Stark Counties. The New England Ambulance services 691 square
miles.
The New England Ambulance has one full time paid paramedic; other than that both departments
are staffed entirely by unpaid help.
